Professional Experience

From 2003-2004 Roberto Panetta studied at the Université Paris II Panthéon Assas. In 2005, he worked at Birindelli & Associati law firm in Beijing.

Roberto Panetta graduated with honours in Law in 2006 from the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan with a thesis on ‘L’esecuzione indiretta dell’obbligazione dell’appaltatore’.

In 2011, he obtained a Masters in International Dispute Settlement from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and the University of Geneva, with a dissertation on ‘Pre-arbitral proceedings in construction disagreements: The Dispute Board’.

In 2012, he achieved his PhD in Private Law in the European Context from the University of Padua, with a thesis on ‘Essenzialità e determinazione del prezzo’.

Areas

Roberto Panetta specialises in advising on matters of civil law and domestic and international contracts, including private procurement and construction, restructuring agreements, service agreements, domestic and international commercial arbitration.
Roberto Panetta also advises clients at their premises, thus providing continuous legal advice to more structured companies as well as to start-up firms, even if they do not have an internal legal department.

Selected Academic
and Professional Achievements

Since 2013 he has been a lecturer in Civil Law (Works contracts) at the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan. Since 2016 he has also been a lecturer of Civil Law (Business Contracts) at the Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome.
He was a lecturer at the Master in International Construction Management at the Politecnico di Milano.
Since 2020 Roberto Panetta has been Vice Chairman of the European Society of Construction Law, a permanent member of the Council, and Secretary General of the Italian Society of Construction Law.
He is a member of the Swiss Arbitration Association Below 40, and is also a member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and of the International Bar Association.
Roberto Panetta is the author and co-author of numerous works on civil law and arbitration.
He regularly speaks at conferences and seminars in Italy and abroad on matters pertaining to civil law, arbitration and dispute boards.
Furthermore, he collaborates with the Italian national newspaper, Il Sole 24 Ore on the Law and Taxes section and SKY TG24.
